I know I left the name in that quote from yesterday, but I’m guessing not everyone has read the Uglies series. I think it’s crazy how many people totally bag on the series because the metaphors are so clear-cut, but I think that’s part of what makes the books so cool. When I was a youngling I was totally obsessed over the way I looked, or at least how I perceived that others saw me. That’s why making the topic so clear cut–as in there are zero taboos in the book about getting the ‘pretty’ surgery–is a pretty solid way of confronting the issue of teen self-consciousness, you know?
Anyways, check out this quote about writing from some person who is smarter than me:
“Eight hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year, that’s the only way I know how to do it.”
